New Peelable, Temporary Protective Coating from Scott Bader

Scott Bader Crystic Mouldguard

Crystic Mouldguard is a tough temporary coating specially designed for protecting moulds and mouldings. Often, decommissioned moulds are stored outside where they are subjected to standing water, UV light, dirt and frost and can become damaged or scratched. Many hours are usually wasted repairing moulds, cleaning and polishing the gelcoat surface ready for re-use. Most moulders would agree that they rarely achieve the same quality of surface that they had before storage.

Features and Benefits

  • Protects moulds and mouldings from damage, so eliminating the need for costly repairs.
  • Significant time and cost savings are made in labor and materials as moulds can be back in production in a fraction of the time.
  • Easy to apply – simply add 2% MEKP catalyst and brush or spray a single coat onto a mould surface, which must have release agent.
  • Quick curing.
  • Easy to remove – simply peel

    and roll off the mouldguard

from the surface it is protecting
  • Prevents air, moisture, dirt, UV light

    and frost from attacking the

    mould surface.

  • Weather resistant in warm or wet

conditions for in excess of 12 months.

  • Tougher than water-based coatings.

Longterm Storage

Moulds can be covered with Crystic Mouldguard and left outside for long periods of time. The mould shown below had been left outside for 6 months before Crystic Mouldguard was removed very easily revealing a mould surface in excellent condition.

Scott Bader has formulated Crystic Mouldguard to give moulders the solution they have been looking for to save significant time and money. It is available in both brush and spray variants and is very easy to use and remove. A simple spray or brush coat cures quickly to give a weather resistant tight plastic film which can be peeled away easily revealing a perfectly clean surface, even after being outside for many months exposed to the elements.
